There is not a single problem in the princess diaries movies that can’t be solved by Mia employing carefully orchestrated state violence vis a vis the Genovian police state she’s just too much of a coward to ddo it
upon review of princess diaries 2 this post only becomes even more true. the entire premise of the plot is predicated on a renegade parliament exercising undue power over her personal life. it’s been previously established that the police force in genovia is fully under control of the monarchy, which would mean that it’s entirely within mia’s power to use the muscle of the genovian police force to forcibly disband parliament and institute a police state until those actors within parliament have been jailed. additionally, there are several scenes wherein mia is tasked with diplomacy with foreign heads of state, which would mean she could use diplomatic alliances to contract foreign armies to quash dissenters, which would be an incredibly easy and rewarding task for mia’s european allies as genovia has a population under 77,000 and any civilian revolt would take like a fraction of, say, the spanish army. this could further be used to issue propaganda depicting mia as a feminist hero.
The more I think about this the more it rings true. Clarisse Renaldi rules in Genovia for upwards of five years without a husband, and the fact that it’s suddenly decided Mia should be wed BY PARLIAMENT just because she’s of childbearing age is a blatant display of sexism and, considering Genovia likely does not have a cohesive constitution considering its inconsistent treatment of its royal family and the selective use of its parliament, i feel completely comfortable sayign that should Mia take forcible control of the country there would be enough gaps in its founding documents that there would be enough legal basis not only for mia to take control of genovia through force but to justify to the United Nations that forcible military control was a Genovian exercise in preserving women’s reproductive rights and therefore not meriting a rebuke. also, considering turkey, i think its status in NATO (IF genovia is a nato ally which i’m assuming it is) is assured, because c’mon.
genovia has an air force. mia could do drone strikes to specifically target the properties of her enemies in parliament, particularly chris pine’s character’s estate, which is established as being situated in the remote countryside. the loss of human life would be extremely minimal to such an extent that it would be incredibly hard for her diplomatic allies to even successfully condemn her in the UN if she exhibits enough of a cogent legal defense of her actions, which she absolutely could as what he’s essentially complicit in a coup d’etat based in gendered bigotry.
At first glance, these intricate doll houses probably look like they belong in a children’s bedroom. However, upon closer inspection, what is being portrayed inside the doll houses in anything other than happy families. Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death are a series of eighteen doll houses, created by Frances Glessner Lee. At a time when forensic science was virtually non-existent, these doll houses were created to aid in the solving of unsolved murders. Frances would inspect the crime scenes and attend the autopsies to create a scene that was as accurate as possible.
